Anthony Joshua could be set for a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko in Las Vegas after his promoter Eddie Hearn flew out to the ‘Mecca of boxing’ to explore the possibility of hosting the fight on the famous strip.
Joshua stopped the 41-year-old Ukrainian in the 11th round of their Wembley blockbuster in April. And though Klitschko has yet to decide whether he wants to fight on, Hearn has travelled to the States alongside Matchroom’s Head of Boxing Frank Smith and Joshua’s manager Freddie Cunningham.
The promoter had previously said Vegas was one of a number of possible venues for a rematch along with Dubai, Cardiff and Nigeria.
After speaking to the Ukrainian’s manager, Bernd Bonte, the Matchroom promoter said he felt Klitschko would only be persuaded to fight on if he was offered another show-stopping spectacle.
Vegas now appears to be the clear front-runner, with Hearn expected to explore possible venues on the strip that could host the rematch.
